Spin Cycle: Giving thanks

The Stellar Sprite’s Keeper’s Spin Cycle this week is giving thanks.  As a dedication to Jen this week, I submit the following poem.

A Thanksgiving Poem

I’m thankful for my beautiful wife
Whose boundless love is the core of my life.
I’m thankful for parents who adopted and raised me
And instilled good work ethics - how not to be lazy.
I’m thankful for children, numbering four
Who every year, somehow, seem more to adore.

IB and Panda

IB and Panda

I’m thankful for work, for as long as it lasts
And finally (finally!) two-dollar gas.
I’m thankful for Thanksgiving, turkey included
After eating which (with pie!), I’ll be all extruded.

Last but not least, I’d like to thank Jen
Whose Spin Cycle’s saved me time and again
From having nothing to put to the page
And for feeling my youth, instead of feeling my age.

I know that, by contrast, my effort is tiny
But you have to admit, this one is shiny!

Beautiful poem. Jen, careful. Watch yourself around tin foil, open flames and other shiny things. I’m speaking from experience.

Goodfather, the line about your wife actually choked me up. Damn you.

Dude, with all the shrines, you’re running out of space on the lawn! Also: I didn’t know you were adopted; I am too. Interesting.

Happy Thanksgiving. :)

Heck of a shrine. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like that. A+ for creativity, dude.

Despite all that’s going down in today’s economy we still have so much to be grateful for. Best to you and yours.

Hey Goodfather!
Great poem! It made me laugh and feel sentimental at the same time! :p No, really though, fantastic poem and great shrine. You might get in trouble for distracting airplane pilots with those shiny things!
You rock. Happy Thanksgiving.
