Getting around Switzerland

Getting around major metropolitan areas in Switzerland is a doddle thanks to their excellent public transportation and easily cyclable cities. Getting between smaller hamlets, villages, and towns in Switzerland can be a bit tougher.

Swiss rail is generally a pretty good bet for some villages or small towns in Switzerland, but less so for some of the places featured on our list.

Personally, I’d recommend renting a car from Kayak or Rentalcars.com and driving – rural Switzerland is some of the most enjoyable driving countries in the world.

It is also possible to book domestic flights around Switzerland – you’d miss out on that lovely driving experience, but you’ll get to see more of this beautiful country from on high!
