Going (Formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) Review: Is It Legit?

Several years ago, I came across a hot, highly-rated service called Scott’s Cheap Flights, an excellent way to get cheap flights. Fast forward to today, the service is now known as Going, and I’ve used the paid cheap flight newsletter service for several years now, so here’s my personal Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) review to help you decide if it’s the right service for you.

I’m always looking for different ways to get cheap airline tickets because airfare is often the most significant immediate expense you inscur when you kick off a trip.

After years of using Going/Scott’s, I have done an extensive Going review and found that Going is an excellent service and is very easy to use. It will help make the right decision easy and you’ll save money on flights.

What is Going?

Going (Formerly Scott's Cheap Flights) Review

Most of us do not realize that the best way to get a good deal on airline tickets is to keep checking for prices as new deals are announced. There are times when airline companies give out low fares, which are immediately booked because of their reduced cost.

This is what Going‘s email subscription service does for you. You do not want to sit at the computer checking for fares all day, and this service will do it for you. It will allow you to go on a vacation at much lower prices. Let us understand how Going works.

How Going (Formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) Works

How Going Works in Steps

Going.com has a team of flight searchers always looking for good deals. Whenever they see a quality value, they gather all the details and share them with the subscribers on their email.

If you are wondering how to sign up for Going, it is a simple, hassle-free procedure. If you are skeptical of the service, you should try the service completely free with a 14-day free trial regardless of your chosen plan.

Sign Up in Going

Subscribers to the service receive the alert and can start browsing existing airfare deals to book immediately, saving a significant amount on airfare. Flight deals are all over the internet, but you need to know how to find the right one. The Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) team uses its skills and expertise to scout the internet for days to find the right deal.

Many of us hate searching for airfare deals before a holiday, which is how I landed on Going. I stopped going to multiple flight aggregators and tracking airfare prices. All I need to do now is choose the departure airport and leave it up to Going.com.

Going On the Fly Feature

I recently planned a trip to Japed based on a fantastic flight deal offered by Going. The deal was so good – I couldn’t resist – and I also love the spontaneity behind it.

Set Your Deal Settings

You can toggle different settings for the types of flight deals you want to be alerted for. Here is what my account settings look like showcasing international flight deals with first-class, business class, premium economy, and economy enabled.

Since I am an Elite member, I also have mistake fares and rare deals enabled for all U.S. airports for business and economy classes.

Examples of Flight Deals

You’ll receive cheap flight deals directly to your email inbox. However, you don’t have to wait; you can see existing flight deals from your dashboard. Some of the flight deals I’ve seen with Going are:

  • Nonstop, roundtrip flight to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) for 25,000 Delta SkyMiles (Personally booked this flight)
  • Nonstop and roundtrip flight to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) for $457 on Delta (Personally booked this flight)

Booking the Flight Deal

Example Flight Deal to Amsterdam

When you’re ready to pull the trigger to book your flight tickets, you can click the book through Google Flights button, and you’ll be brought to the exact dates and details of the flight deal.

I love that they rely on Google Flights over any other flight search engine since its interface is the easiest to use to book flights. You’ll get the airline’s exact price with no additional hidden fees or commissions.

Going Pricing: Limited vs. Premium vs. Elite

Going App Pricing Plans (Formerly Scott's Cheap Flights)

As a premium subscriber, you get access to deals first. Additionally, you get three times more sales than a free service user. As a premium email subscriber, you will receive cheap flight deals as soon as they are arranged. The details will be sent out at least 30 minutes before they are shared with free service users.

Going premium is a paid service that is affordable and worth every penny. It offers several benefits like multiple departure airport selection, best deals, no advertisement, instant text messages, and alerts of flight deals. With their Premium plan, you will never miss a good deal.

Meanwhile, an Elite membership should only be used for frequent travelers looking for the best international flight deals. You’ll have a ton of options as well as you’ll get unlimited departure airports that you can add to your account to monitor flight deals.

Here is a table of the various pricing plans offered by Going:

Membership Description Price Deal Frequency Deal Speed Class Deal Types Priority Support
Limited Get a feel for deals, may miss out on the best one Always free Low 1-2 days later Economy Class Domestic Deals No
Premium Save hundreds on economy fares $49/year (free 14-day trial, cancel anytime) High First to know Economy Class International Deals, Weekend Getaways, Mistake Fares from your airports No
Elite Save thousands on high-class fares $199/year (free 14-day trial, cancel anytime) Custom First to know All Fare Classes Everything in Premium plus all mistake fares Yes

Key Features of Going (Formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights)

Quality flight service and insanely cheap flights

Going Flight Alerts Feature

One of the most important things to mention in Going review is the quality of service. You can find flight deals without checking the airfares all day long. It is possible to enjoy cheap flight service and land quality deals that will save money.

Free, Premium, and Elite Versions

Going Membership Price and Perks

There are three versions you can choose from. The limited version is, well, free. However, the premium version is much better than the limited version. It gives you flight deals and real-time updates about different destinations.

Finally, if you enjoy luxury travel and want to score incredible first-class deals and mistake fares, you’ll want to purchase an Elite membership. First-class deals and mistake fares are exclusively offered with an Elite membership, including some of the rarest international flight deals. You won’t have access to these airfare deals with a Premium membership only.

Run by humans

Going is not managed by a BOT. It is run by human searchers who are always looking for good deals. This feature distinguishes Going from many other portals offering cheap flight alerts. With humans working to find cheap flights, you get only the finest in your email. These are also verified by a profile of the person that finds the flight deal.

In this Going review, I would like to mention that Going does not have a secret algorithm that helps them find the right deal. Humans search all the fares with their hard work and commitment. Each team member is committed to offering the flight deal for you.

Here is an example of knowing exactly what team member from Going found the flight deal:

Europe Flight Deal Landing Page

Airfares constantly change, and the best deals do not last long. Hence, finding them at the right time and picking them up before they are gone is essential.

I am somebody who does not like to put in the time and effort required to find cheap flights, so the premium version is reasonably priced because the team is doing it for me.

Reasonably priced

The premium version costs $49 annually and offers plenty of benefits, which is a small price when you consider the amount of money you’ll be saving in airfare. With the premium version, you get three times as many deals as free subscribers, and you will be notified of the mistake fare 30 minutes before free subscribers.

Custom and multiple departure airports

Going Departure Airport Settings
Example of My Departure Airport Settings

This feature is a huge reason to give Going a chance. Adding multiple departure airports to find flight deals for local and larger international airports is possible. I not only received emails about the airfare deals, but I was also able to select the city of residence.

Just select the airport closest to your house and where you would like to depart, and you’ll only receive deals that are relevant to you personally. They are constantly adding cities and other regions to make service available to everyone worldwide (hopefully!).

Email and text alerts

I often forget to check my personal email, and it is nice that Going can also send text messages about the best deals. On the other hand, people may not be used to checking their text messages, and they can get access to the best flight deals via email.

Here is an example of an international flight deal from Going via email to Europe.

Going Flight Deal Email Example
Example of a Cheap Flight Alert via Email

Both happen to be direct methods of communication. The best thing about Going is that I did not receive emails daily. I only get the best deals I wouldn’t want to miss. Too many messages can become annoying and inconvenient. Hence, Going filters them and sends only the best.

Going vs. Competitors

Let’s look at how Going compares to competitors in the cheap flight newsletter space.

Company Free Trial Email Alerts Annual Cost Key Features
Going ✔️ ✔️ $49.00 Text and email alerts, daily deals, mistake fares and rare deals
Thrifty Traveler Premium ✔️ $49.99 Text and email alerts, daily deals, mistake fares and rare deals
Dollar Flight Club ✔️ ✔️ $20; Then, $69 Multiple departure airports, text and email alerts, daily deals, mistake fares, two levels of premium

Other Going (Formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) Reviews

I was shocked to find some bad reviews on Trustpilot. In a customer review of Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights), the reviewer expressed disappointment with their Elite membership.

They had paid $200, anticipating great deals on first/business class flights, but were let down by receiving only deals for South American destinations they weren’t interested in. The customer felt the flight deals were lackluster and could be found easily through Google Flights, ultimately considering the service a rip-off. I don’t know if I would go that far based on using this flight deal newsletter.

I will say that it varies on where you live and airport availability. If you live in an area without a major hub, you may not receive the frequency of flight deals that you’d expect when signing up.

The reviews are entirely different if you move off Trustpilot and look at socials such as Going’s Facebook Page. They’ve received over 3,500 reviews from users with an average rating of 4.9 out of 5. Here is another example of a customer review of Going:

“The premium plan is great. I booked a flight from Dulles to Milan for $331, 2 hours later, it had increased by $100. For my family of four, a $400 total savings is huge.”

Pros and Cons of Going

Let’s evaluate some of the advantages and disadvantages of Going service.

Pros of Going

  • Text and email alerts of all the best deals,
  • Custom departure city selection,
  • Deals are sent every day,
  • Purchasing one flight will pay for the subscription price,
  • International flights for less than $300 roundtrip at times.

Cons of Going

  • Worldwide departures are not available,
  • No access to a direct flight search engine; you wait for Going to get you the deals.

Going Rating

Ease-of-Use – 4/5

A considerable advantage of Going is that you do not need to search for flights. It will save you time and add convenience to your travel planning. You will not have to spend long hours in front of the computer looking for cheap flight deals; this job will be done by Going.

The portal is user-friendly; you only need to sign up for it. You will receive email and text alerts with new deals.

Features – 4.5/5

A Going review remains incomplete without talking about rating the site’s features. Going has excellent features on the portal, but the only drawback is that I had to wait for the deals.

Whenever I plan to travel, I need to wait for Going coupons. I cannot search for deals myself. Apart from that, the site is easy to use and navigate. You can find deals the moment you log in.

Value – 5/5

I am thrilled and satisfied to have signed up for Going. It has helped me save significant money on my roundtrip flights. Going gets the best deals for you and saves time and effort. I no longer need to check the flight prices or compare them.

I also do not visit my travel agent for cheap flights anymore. Going does the handwork while I get to enjoy a holiday without burning a hole in my wallet. Going offers the best services and is value for money.

To those thinking if Going premium is worth it, yes, it is. You will notice a significant difference in travel expenses when booking the best deals.

Verdict: Is Going Worth It?

The most challenging part about traveling is finding deals that fit your budget. Therefore, many people always look for cheap flights to save on expenses. I looked at affordable flight services and concluded nothing could beat Going. It remains the best service available in the market today.

Going allowed me to save thousands of dollars which justifies the nominal amount they charge for a premium subscription. Going needs financial support to find great deals on flights.

No other service can keep up with the outstanding deals and offers that Going sends daily. Even if you purchase a single ticket, you will realize you could save significant money. There is a 30-day money-back guarantee, and Going allows you to cancel the subscription anytime.

So give it a try and see if you like it. It is so convenient and easy to use that you will land the best deals even if you have zero knowledge of travel hacking. You don’t need a travel credit card to travel at a cheaper rate. I hope this Going.com (Formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) review helps you plan your next big vacation or weekend getaway.
