Best Restaurants in Innsbruck, Austria

1. Restaurant Oniriq

Plateful of Delicious Food

Address: Bürgerstraße 13, 6020 Innsbruck, Austria

Online reviews flood this restaurant with high praises of “best vegetarian food I’ve ever tasted in Austria”, and with good reason. Founded in 2017, Oniriq is a restaurant on Innsbruck’s Maria-Theresian-Strasse that focuses on inventive vegetarian fare.

Manning the stove is Christoph Bickel, an Austrian chef who has cooked all over Europe for over two decades, famously making a name for himself at the Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol and the 2-star Villa Merton in Frankfurt.

After cooking up innovative culinary creations around the continent, Christoph has returned to his homeland to fulfill his dream of starting his own restaurant, which he aptly named Oniriq, the French word for ‘dream’.

The restaurant switches up its menu every eight to ten weeks, giving its loyal patrons plenty of reasons to visit. Dishes are served in a five or seven-course menu – Chef Bickel recommends that its dishes be savored over a relaxing three to four hours.

Here, seasonal flavors are the main focus, with dishes presented in an innovative, ingredient-driven fashion. For example, the menu highlights zucchini with lettuce, goat cream cheese, and strawberry seed oil, or peaches with gooseberry, mezcal, and currants. Non-vegetarian options of fish and meat are also available on request.

The restaurant’s manager and the sommelier can recommend exceptional wines to accompany its delicious dishes, as well as non-alcoholic beverages. Oniriq is open for reservations and private celebrations.
