Leech Lake Fishing Regulations

Leech Lake resorts - fishing regulations

The MN DNR (Minnesota Department of Natural Resources) has established a minimum size requirement of four walleyes, with one being at least 20.0 inches in length. Be sure to check the local fishing report, including water levels and the latest regulations, before you head out on the water.

Adventure North Resort is locally engaged in the effort to preserve the lake, and we have a DNR commercial fish packers permit. They are capable of sanitizing, packing, and labeling steamed fish for your freezer at home.

The bag limit for musky fishing is one fish over 54 inches, with only one fish over 42 inches allowed in possession of the water. All other muskies must be immediately returned to the water unharmed.

Aquatic Invasive Species Management

During the trip, a boat owner should complete all required activities listed on the list above.

  1. Clear the boat and clean the exterior if any vegetation or mud has accumulated inside or outside the boat.
  2. To remove and destroy any vegetation or organisms that cannot pass through a waterway, wash/power spray down the boat (if needed). Before leaving, boaters must go through three easy actions.
  3. Ensure that the water draining system of the boat does not contain any chemicals or bait water.
  4. Dry the boat for five days or longer if needed.
