I haven’t blogged all week.  I’m not sure this post counts for me - my beautiful wife is stepping in with a meme she did on Facebook.  I’m not going to tag anyone with this, but feel free to take it if it appeals to you.

To be fair, I should say the my beautiful wife is running it. Julia (whose signature points at the store when she comments) does almost everything on our website.

I’m having a hard time staying focused. There are so many things I need to take care of! And so many things I’m trying to do. It’s almost impossible for me to stay with one task long enough to complete it, as other tasks keep grabbing my attention and distracting me.

I don’t get the feeling from media coverage I’ve seen that anyone is expecting a gaffe or misstatement from Mr. Obama. In fact, the bar seems to be pretty high, set by Abraham Lincoln’s inaugural addresses. But somehow, I don’t think delivering an historic inauguration speech will be a problem for our new President.

I don’t usually follow news in my blog, but the story of Flight 1549 is incredible. Not only was the work by the flight crew outstanding, but the immediate response and brilliant maneuvering by the passenger ferries in the area was inspirational.

Today marks one month of unemployment for me. I’m not sure how the time has gone by so quickly.

The shiny Sprite’s Keeper has the washing machine on full blast this week.  The Spin?  What if.  Kudos to Jen for tapping what must be on the minds of a LOT of people these days.  I know ‘what if’ questions have been running through my own brain:

I know there’s no reason for me to feel this way, but even worse, it’s unqualified guilt. There’s nothing I can do to take responsibility for what I did, other than to go to dreamland rehab. I don’t ever want to feel this way again. I didn’t state this as a resolution, but I’m putting it out there now: I don’t want to experience guilt this year. Not even once.

I should clarify my own position in all this: I really don’t have one. I’m happy to have my wife’s milk duds (her words) converted back into her former maidenly bosom, but for me, the holy bond of breast feeding is non-Dad territory.

It’s 2009. The plastic Christmas tree has been packed back into its box, along with the ornaments and decorations. The relatives have gone back to their homes with our love and best wishes. The New Year has come whimpering in, bringing the cold fingers of Reality.

The syntactic Sprite’s Keeper assigned a New Year’s spin last week: resolutions. The topic fits perfectly for where I find myself at the moment. Sure, I have the standard list of defects I want to correct. But the bigger issue is my resolve. I feel like I’ve lost my ability to ‘Make it so, Number One.’ Get the job done. Kick the tires and light the fires.
